Imagine luxurious white fur and wool scrunching between your toes in front of an open fire, and gazing out from the cosiness of your Aurora Dome as the northern lights weave their magic above. This is the experience that Finland and Northern Scandinavia’s first official glamping destination holds for you.
Tell me more
This luxurious glamping destination 150 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle is an extraordinary place to experience the Lappish wilderness in comfort.
Here four igloo-shaped, Aurora Domes can be found perched on the banks of Lake Torassieppi. Fully insulated, warmly furnished and decorated in traditional Lappish style, each one has a transparent north-facing wall. With minimal light pollution, they are in the perfect setting for stargazing or Aurora spotting.
Your hosts here are The Pietikäinen family - Köpi, Maria, Niina, Jouni, Jussi, Antti and Kalle – who built the domes alongside their log cabin village on the site of an old reindeer farm. The family specialise in nature-friendly Arctic adventures and have dozens of wilderness experiences for you to choose from each day.
If it’s quiet contemplation you have in mind though, you’ll find that here too. Take inspiration from these words spoken by the Pietikäinen family...
Spend The Night In A Snow Igloo
Why not combine your luxury glamping or log cabin stay with a night in a traditional snow igloo? Crafted entirely of ice the igloo houses 6 rooms, welcoming guests to spend a night at sub-zero from Dec to March. There is also a restaurant and ice bar within the snow igloo. The moderate temperature inside each room carved of ice will shield you from the climate outside, which can dip to a chilly as -30. Even though the bed inside is crafted of ice, soft and warm reindeer skins and thick sleeping bags ensures a cosy and comfortable night.
"Feel the heartbeat of our wilderness and learn the secret of patience".
