Day 1 | Arrive in Arctic Norway

Arrive in Alta and transfer to Sorrisniva Arctic Wilderness Lodge, your gateway to the Arctic. Settle into your cosy room before savouring a delicious three-course dinner in the renowned Maku Restaurant. As night falls, step into a magical Sami and reindeer experience beneath the shimmering northern lights, connecting with Arctic traditions and wildlife in a truly unforgettable first evening.

Day 2 | Whale Watching & Igloo Exploration

Set sail on the Altafjord for a thrilling whale-watching adventure, spotting majestic marine giants against a backdrop of snow-dusted fjords. After returning to shore, explore the enchanting Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel, marveling at its icy architecture and artful ice sculptures. Immerse yourself in the magic of the Arctic landscape while enjoying unique encounters that combine nature, creativity, and winter wonder.

Day 3 | Dog Sledding Adventure & Relaxation

Embark on a guided dog-sledding day trip through pristine Arctic wilderness, letting the huskies lead you across snow-covered trails. Return to the lodge for a relaxing outdoor jacuzzi and sauna experience, warming up amidst breathtaking winter scenery. In the evening, indulge in a fine dining meal, celebrating the flavours of northern Norway after a day of exhilarating adventure and serene Arctic relaxation.

Day 4 | Electric Fat-Bike Safari

Transfer to Glød Explorer and check into your unique Aurora Canvas Dome, a cozy base for Arctic exploration, before setting off on a guided safari by electric fat-bike.  Soak in the snowy landscapes across miles of dog-sledding and snowmobile trails in the Alta Valley. This evening enjoy a warming three-course dinner at Glød Explorer before retreating to your canvas dome, where the Arctic night invites you to keep watch for the northern lights overhead.

Day 5 | Northern Lights Hunt

Spend the day relaxing at Glød before your evening excursion. As night falls, board your minibus and race beneath the Arctic sky searching for the elusive northern lights, thrilling as the sky ignites with a vivid aurora rippling across the darkness illuminating the landscape.

Day 6 | Departure Day

After breakfast, bid farewell to your Arctic adventure and check out from Glød Explorer. Enjoy a private transfer back to Alta Airport, carrying memories of husky sleds, fat-biking, whale sightings, Sami traditions, and the magical northern lights.

What's included

  • Return shared transfers from Alta Airport.
  • Three nights at Sorrisniva Arctic Wilderness Lodge in Alta based on a River Room for two people with a sky-view window, ensuite shower and WC and private balcony.
  • All meals included. Daily buffet breakfast, two 3-course meals and one 8-course fine dining menu, served in Maku Restaurant.
  • Two nights at Glød Explorer in Alta based on a Glød Aurora Canvas Dome for two people. Each dome has its own toilet and wash-hand basin and the shower and sauna are located in the Glød building (approx. 30 metres away).
  • All meals included. Daily buffet breakfast, and two 3-course meals.
  • Guided Sami and reindeer experience on a sled pulled by a reindeer, searching for the northern lights. Includes hot drinks and snacks. Duration 2½ hours.
  • Whale watching boat tour on the Altafjord. Cruise through the stunning Altafjord aboard a comfortable, heated boat with panoramic windows. Includes return transfers, thermal overalls and life jacket, plus hot drinks and snacks. Duration 4 – 5 hours.
  • Guided tour of the Igloo Hotel including a Blue Ice cocktail served in the hotel's Ice Bar. You will explore the hotel and its themed suites and ice sculptures, and learn about the building process. NB: If you would like to exchange one of your nights in the Arctic Wilderness Lodge for a night in an ice suite, please let us know - must be pre-booked at the same time as your holiday package! Duration 1 hour.
  • Guided husky sledding adventure. Based on two people per sled (musher and passenger) with the opportunity to swap around midway. Back at the kennel you have plenty of time to cuddle the huskies before having hot drinks and snacks inside a lavvu with open fire. Duration 6 hours.
  • Arctic sauna and jacuzzi session to relax and nurture mind and body. Intermittent body scrubbing with handfuls of snow is optional! Includes bathrobe and towels. Interested in an ice-bathing. experience (cold water immersion in a 'bath' cut into the ice) along with the sauna and jacuzzi? Please ask for details. Duration 1½ hours.
  • Electric Fat-Bike Exploration. Explore the Arctic landscapes around Alta on a powerful electric fat-bike, designed to handle snow, ice, and rugged trails with ease. Includes a break for a hot drink and snacks. Duration 2½ hours.
  • Hunting the northern lights. Travel through the Arctic wilderness of Alta in a small, comfortable minibus with an expert local guide.  Includes winter thermo suits and foot bags. Hot drinks and light snacks are provided. Duration 4 – 5 hours.
