Holiday Idea

Svalbard doesn’t ease you in—it pulls you straight into the wild. One moment you’re in the colourful quiet of Longyearbyen, the next you’re skimming across tundra behind a team of huskies or crossing open water towards a remote outpost at the edge of the Arctic Ocean. This is a place where days are dictated by light, weather and wildlife; where polar bears roam, walrus haul out on ice, and silence carries weight. Base yourself between frontier town and wilderness station, and slip into a rhythm that’s equal parts adventure and stillness—saunas above crashing seas, boat journeys beneath towering glaciers, moments that feel entirely your own. Raw, elemental and quietly powerful, this is Svalbard as it should be experienced.

Your Arctic journey begins as you travel light, boarding an enclosed expedition boat across Isfjorden toward the remote outpost of Cape Linné. Taking in the shifting scenery, you arrive at Isfjord Radio and explore the station on a guided walk, discovering its history as a remote communication hub. Afterwards, unwind in the cliffside sauna overlooking the Arctic Ocean, with the chance to spot wildlife passing by.

Day 5 | Wildlife Safari & Return to Longyearbyen

Svalbard’s “Big Five” — walrus, polar bear, seal, Arctic fox, and reindeer — are part of the Arctic experience, and your time at Isfjord Radio offers a chance to encounter wildlife in its natural habitat. Plans are shaped by conditions, with options to explore by boat along the dramatic west coast or on foot across the tundra. Later, return by enclosed boat to Longyearbyen, carrying a final impression of Svalbard’s wild beauty.
