Day 1 | Arrive in Oslo

Welcome to Norway. On arrival at Oslo Airport, make your way to your nearby airport hotel for a relaxing overnight stay. This stop ensures a smooth, stress-free start to your adventure, especially after a long journey.

If time allows, Oslo city centre is just 20 minutes away by train—perfect for an optional introduction to Norway. Otherwise, unwind at the hotel and enjoy a restful evening before your journey continues tomorrow.

Day 2 | Arrive in Longyearbyen

Welcome to the High Arctic, where your Svalbard adventure begins. On arrival, meet your guide and transfer to the characterful Basecamp Hotel in the heart of Longyearbyen. After settling in, explore the world’s northernmost town on a guided walk, uncovering stories of life at the edge of the Arctic wilderness.

Day 3 | Journey to Nordenskiöld

Begin your day in Longyearbyen by meeting your guide and fellow explorers. After preparing for the journey, cross the Isfjord by enclosed Arctic boat, surrounded by dramatic scenery and opportunities to spot wildlife. Your destination is the remote Nordenskiöld Lodge, set beneath the glacier. After arrival, head out on a guided hike before returning to the lodge to unwind in the sauna and soak up the peaceful Arctic surroundings.

Day 4 | Walk on Ancient Ice

Today, experience Spitsbergen’s glaciers up close — beneath your feet rather than from a distance. Just steps from Nordenskiöld Lodge, Nordenskiöldbreen stretches out before you. After a safety briefing and equipment fitting, set out with your guide onto the ancient ice, walking across rolling blue surfaces surrounded by silence and vast Arctic scenery, before returning to the lodge to relax with glacier views and a warming sauna.

Day 5 | Scenic Safari through Billefjorden

Take a final moment to absorb the striking landscape surrounding Nordenskiöld Lodge. A short walk offers a last chance to photograph Nordenskiöldbreen rising behind you. After packing, depart by expedition boat for a scenic safari across Billefjorden, watching for seals, seabirds, and possibly whales. Heading west, you arrive at the remote Isfjord Radio, where a guided walk reveals stories of Arctic exploration and frontier life.

Day 6 | Hiking the Isfjord Radio Coast

Set out on a full‑day hike led by an expert Isfjord Radio guide, exploring one of several carefully chosen routes through the surrounding landscape. Passing old radio poles and subtle traces of history, the route (approximately 10–16 kilometres) is adapted to conditions, wildlife activity, and group experience. Returning in the afternoon, you have time to relax in the cosy lounges, warm up in the cliffside sauna, or watch the changing Arctic light.

Day 7 | Husky Adventure across Adventdalen

Depart Isfjord Radio by enclosed expedition boat, travelling across Svalbard’s Arctic waters with ever‑changing coastal scenery along the way. Back on land, visit a traditional Trapper’s Station just outside Longyearbyen, where a team of enthusiastic Alaskan huskies awaits. After an introduction, harness your own dog team and set out across the wide tundra of Adventdalen, surrounded by open horizons and crisp Arctic air, before returning to town.

Day 8 | Departure Day

On your final day in Svalbard, enjoy one last experience before saying farewell to the Arctic. Step into the island’s history with a guided visit to Mine 3, gaining insight into the lives of the miners who shaped this remote community. Depending on your flight schedule, there may be time for a final stroll through Longyearbyen. Your guide then accompanies you to the airport for departure.

  • All activities/experiences which form part of your expedition experience and which are outlined in the day-by-day itinerary
