Day 1 | Arrive at Arctic Retreat

Fly to Luleå Airport and transfer to the tiny settlement of Arctic Retreat at Gunnarsbyn, overlooking the Råne River. The retreat is home to three traditional log cabins, a log timber restaurant, lounge cabin and sauna cabin. A stay at Arctic Retreat is all about nature, local flora and fauna and a range of activities and experiences to complement this. Each cabin has its own hot-tub on the terrace. Settle in to your cabin with the remainder of the day free to explore independently and perhaps take a wild swim in the river followed by a sauna or hot-tub session. Dinner is served in the log restaurant during the evening.

Canoeing on the Rane River during summer in Sweden

Day 2 | Canoeing on the Råne River

Enjoy a healthy and hearty breakfast served in the log restaurant. Today you will paddle a canoe with your guide and explore the quiet and peaceful places along the river. There are good chances of seeing local wildlife such as birds, moose, beaver and maybe even reindeer as you glide peacefully along. Your guide will help find beautiful scenery along the way in the amazing nature. Enjoy a light outdoor lunch during the trip. Return to Arctic Retreat with the remainder of the day free, before dinner.

Picking berries during summer in Sweden

Day 3 | Hiking & Flavours of the eight Seasons

Today you will take a guided hike in the beautiful Taiga Forest that surrounds Arctic Retreat. You'll be surrounded by deep forests and beautiful views, a great opportunity to bring your camera along. Enjoy lunch before returning to Arctic Retreat to meet with local food and culture connoisseur, Eva Gunnare, from ‘Essence of Lapland’. Through stories, songs, and a variety of taste sensations, you will learn more about Swedish Lapland. Discover how locals for centuries have used wild ingredients throughout the eight seasons which exist in the Arctic regions. Parts of this experience will be held outdoor and partly indoors, before dinner in the log restaurant.

Fat biking at Arctic Retreat in summer, Sweden

Day 4 | Independent canoeing, fat biking, fishing and wild swimming

Today, explore the wilderness area around Arctic Retreat on your own. Enjoy the beauty of the scenery, the tranquillity of the forest and perhaps even see some of the local wildlife. Your guides will show you how to use the bikes, canoes and fishing equipment as well as provide you with information about the local hiking trails and picnic spots. Take off with a picnic, find a spot, and enjoy a refreshing swim before returning to Arctic Retreat for a hot sauna and hot-tub before dinner.

Spa and wellness terrace at the Downtown Camper, Stockholm, Sweden

Day 5 | Arrive in Stockholm

Enjoy breakfast in the log restaurant before your flight to Stockholm. Arrive at Stockholm Arlanda Airport and transfer to your hotel, Downtown Camper, for your two-night stay. Why not visit the spa and wellness area? The roof-top pool, with its amazing view over Stockholm’s rooftops is open and heated to about 38° all year. Later, head out for dinner in the evening and enjoy the city.

Day 6 | Explore Stockholm

Today explore Stockholm or ‘Beauty On Water’ as it is known. Sweden's capital is a compact and walkable city with sights distributed across all central neighbourhoods, which themselves are a collection of islands connected together by road and foot bridges. Gamla Stan is perhaps the most visited neighbourhood in Stockholm as it is one of the best preserved medieval city centres in Europe. It was here that Stockholm was founded in 1252. Explore the colourful building facades, and meander through the narrow and winding cobbled streets. We strongly recommend visiting a few of the funky underground stations in the city - for the artwork alone. The day is all yours.

Enjoy a final breakfast in Sweden before you are picked up from your hotel for your private transfer to Stockholm Arlanda Airport for your flight home.
