292 Aurland

Once a traditional farm, 292 Aurland is one of 17 eco certified businesses in Norway. Six historic buildings make up the hotel, each named after people who have influenced the unique atmosphere that 29/2 Aurland exudes. No two rooms are alike, and owners Tone and Bjørn have combined beatifully crafted antique furniture with recycled materials, creating a calming atmophere hidden between mountains and waterfalls. 

Owners Tone and Bjørn transformed the collection of buildings on this former historic farm after leaving the city behind in 2012. Bjørn's specialist building and renovation skills paired with Tone's extensive experience travelling across Norway as a journalist has facilitated the creation of four unique and enchanting buildings.

The Fisherman's Cabin near the Aurlandselva river, contains five spacious rooms, and is one of the oldest buildings in the region. A twist on traditional architecture and modern innovation, The Goat Barn is home to two suites, a dining room, and lounge. The quirky tower is the focal point of the house, created using recycled windows from Bjørn's previous renovations.

The East Wing can be found in the main building, where two ornate rooms provide views of the valley and lush green vegetation. The Grandmother's House is a tribute to Bjørn's mother Ingrid, who was born in the house. Comfortably housing four, the private patio provides a tranquil resting spot.

The Old Smokehouse Restaurant is where guests can sample ingredients that have been harvested from their very own gardens, local farmers and Norway's only fully organic agricultural school, Sogn School of Organic Agriculture and Horticulture, which is conveniently located close to the hotel, beside their treasure trove of a farm shop!

Encouraging an eco-conscious way of life, through adhering to Norwegian eco-tourism principles, organic cooking, giving back to the community, and soft adventure so as not to disturb the abundant surrounding nature, 29/2 Aurland hope to realise their dream of making Norwegian Fjords 'The Green Heart' of the world.
