Day 1 | Arrive in Trondheim

Arrive in Trondheim. Trondheim is heaven for foodies with a full range of gastronomic delights to choose from – everything from simple cosy cafes to renowned Michelin-starred restaurants. How about a pre-dinner tipple at one of the local craft beer pubs, or fancy cocktails in an historical setting? Trondheim has something for all tastes and budgets.

Day 2 | Explore Trondheim

Explore Trondheim, Norway's former ancient capital city. A visit to Gothic Nidaros Cathedral is a must, it is Scandinavia's largest medieval building. Cross Gamle Bybro and find Bakklandet, the old town, with its picturesque, cobbled streets and colourful timber buildings. A popular way to explore the city is by bike, explore independently or as part of a guided tour; Trondheim even has its own unique bicycle lift!

Day 3 | Døvre Railway from Trondheim to Oslo

The Døvre Railway runs between Trondheim and Oslo and travels across the mighty Døvrefjell Mountain Range and through the beautiful Gudbrandsdalen Valley. The journey takes 7 hours to Oslo, where coastal green spaces and a thriving cultural scene awaits.

Day 4 & 5 | Explore Oslo

Enjoy a full day exploring Oslo. The Norwegian capital is continuing to have something of a renaissance with the neighbourhood of Tjuvholmen and Oslo's Opera House injecting an edgy and contemporary energy into the city. Contrasting nicely are some of Oslo's most well-loved cultural attractions including Vigeland Sculpture Park and the Munch museum for a close up with 'The Scream'. On Bygdøy peninsula, find Fram Museum and the Kon-Tiki Museum with Aker Brygge, the old harbour, being a great place to stroll or perhaps join a lunch cruise out onto the Oslofjord.

Day 6 | Norway in a Nutshell

Today take one of Norway's most famous journeys, 'Norway in a Nutshell', from Oslo to Bergen. Take a train journey across the roof of Norway, to Myrdal then by Flåm Mountain Railway and fjord cruise to Gudvangen, continuing by rail to Bergen.

Day 7 & 8 | Explore Bergen

Explore Norway’s second-largest city, Bergen. We certainly recommend a stroll around Bryggen and taking Fløibanen to the summit of Mount Fløyen for spectacular views of the city. The city also boasts a number of excellent museums and galleries, or perhaps take a guided walking tour of the city, the cable car to the summit of Mount Ulriken, or a combination of bus and boat to the Hardangerfjord.

Day 9 | Coastal cruise to Stavanger

Today enjoy a leisurely coastal cruise to Stavanger.  We recommend lunch in the ship's restaurant whilst passing numerous islands and skerries hugging the coastline. Weather permitting, bask in the sunshine on deck and breathe in all the glorious fresh, Norwegian sea air.

Day 10 | Explore Stavanger

Explore Stavanger today. This city is a mixture of old and new and there is no better way to experience the contrast than by visiting the Canning Museum in Old Stavanger for an insight into how this gorgeous sardine canning factory was the heart of the city.  Follow this with a visit to the Petroleum Museum, located in the harbour for a deeper insight into an industry which until very recently was Stavanger's main source of income.
